Fact: Cats Outdoors is Normal and Natural

Fact: Cats have lived outdoors for thousands of years! Indoor-only cats are a relatively recent phenomenon, becoming commonplace with the invention of cat litter in the late 1940s.

In other words, cats have always been outdoors and always will—and that is just fine. Community cats can thrive in their outdoor homes. And no matter where they call home, cats are our community members who deserve respect and protection.

This understanding must be the basis of all community law and policy impacting cats. Alley Cat Allies works every single day to make it so!
