Global Cat Day® 2020, a day of action in which we rally individuals and organizations to stand up for cats, reached budding advocates all over the map this year! People who care about cats and kittens accomplished incredible things on October 16, from defeating dangerous laws to spreading the word about how we can help cats in our communities.

We’d like to share with you just some of the day’s greatest posts and tales of advocacy, awareness, and love. We hope they inspire you to continue speaking out for catsand to keep up the momentum of our global movement to save their lives. Together, we can build a world where all cats are valued and protected.

A Feeding Ban Defeated

On Global Cat Day, Alley Cat Allies Feral Friends Network® member Mid-Cities Community Cats helped stop a cat feeding ban proposal from moving forward in Hurst, Texas. Our president and founder Becky Robinson was in contact with advocates at Mid-Cities Community Cats regarding the measure, and we’re thrilled by this lifesaving victory for Hurst’s cats!

The purpose of Global Cat Day is to inspire effective advocacy for cats in all of our communities. This story is a powerful example of what that means.

5,000 Pounds of Love

Teaming up with pet food company Weruva, Cat Man Chris, guardian of famous felines Cole & Marmalade (@ColeTheBlackCat), distributed 5,000 pounds of cat food to community cat caregivers in his area on October 16. That’s a lot of meals! It was all in honor of Global Cat Day and National Feral Cat Day, another day of advocacy created by Alley Cat Allies.

A Journey HomeAll Expenses Paid

From Global Cat Day through October 18, this generous cat advocate covered all adoption fees for adult cats at a Nevada animal shelter!
