Saving Six Neonatal Kittens from a Cold Snap

@alleycatallies

Meet Ebony, Jet, Obsidian, Raven, Ink, and Onyx! These tiny newborns were found without their mother cat right as a cold snap blew through Maryland last week. Alley Cat Allies ensured they were rescued, and now they’re fed, warm, and safe. We’ll keep you updated on their progress…they have a long way to grow! If you’re considering becoming a neonatal kitten caregiver, we have a guide to help at alleycat.org/KittenCare. Meet Ebony, Jet, Obsidian, Raven, Ink, and Onyx!

Found without their mother during the cold snap in Maryland this week, these neonatal kittens were brought to a local shelter in critical condition. Working with veterinary allies, Alley Cat Allies acted fast to rescue and warm them up. The cold is deadly to kittens, so there was no time to lose.

Thankfully, all six are stable and recovering in our care! We’re ensuring they are bottle-fed and cared for from here on out. And, we’re grateful to our supporters like you for making it possible.

We’ll keep you updated on this little crew’s progress—they have a long way to grow!

Kittens at this age, who have been separated from their mother, require round-the-clock care to survive. If you’re considering becoming a neonatal kitten caregiver, we have a guide to help at alleycat.org/KittenCare.

Cashew Finds His Forever Home After Arctic Blast Rescue

We couldn’t be happier to see Cashew find his forever home! It’s been a long road for him to get to this happy ending.

Cashew was one of the cats we rescued (thanks to YOUR support) just in time for the Arctic Blast earlier this year. He’d been abandoned and was severely ill with pneumonia, among other health issues. It’s highly likely he would not have survived the ice and snow had we not stepped in.

Now, after weeks of expert veterinary care, Cashew has a clean bill of health and a bright future ahead of him! He deserves it, and we wish him and his new family all the best.

We have more adoptable cats and kittens ready to find their person (or people!). Meet them all at alleycat.org/Adopt.

A New Life and Love for Romeo (and More Kittens!)

Alley Cat Allies’ Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) collaboration in Atlantic County, New Jersey, has become a go-to resource for local community cat caregivers. In the past years alone, we’ve reached more than 6,300 cats!

So, when five young kittens were discovered, alone, during the Arctic Blast earlier this year, advocates knew just who to call.

Romeo, Cupid, Prince, Valentino, and Marshmallow came in with severe upper respiratory infections. We had to make sure those were cleared up before they were cleared for adoption. Weeks of expert veterinary care later, the siblings were ready and raring to go.

And it didn’t take long before the perfect people found them. Little Romeo was the first to head home, and the rest followed soon after!

Ted on the Mend

Community cats thrive in their outdoor homes, but on those occasions when they need medical care, swift action is critical.

Working with our network of advocates and veterinary allies, Alley Cat Allies connected Ted (AKA Teddy) with the care he needed for an injured leg. We’re covering all costs of this handsome tuxedo cat’s treatment to ensure he recovers smoothly. For that, we have you to thank!

Teddy is an easygoing guy, so he could be safely handled during his exam. However, we recommend always bringing a community cat to the veterinarian in a humane trap. We have a full guide on how to help sick or injured cats outdoors here.
