Happy New Year from all of us at Alley Cat Allies!
As we wait for the clock to strike midnight and officially start 2026, we’re looking back on all of our incredible accomplishments for cats this past year. This is community-transforming, life-changing work, and we couldn’t have done it without the support of all the dedicated advocates and donors in our movement.

As we get ready to make even greater change in 2026, here are just some of the highlights of our impact in 2025.
25 Ways We Helped Cats in 2025:
- Alley Cat Allies’ movement grew to more than 1.7 million supporters! We continue to inspire, educate, and support more cat advocates around the world every day. We’re spreading the word: if you don’t believe in killing cats, you’re already an advocate.
- We provided more than 1.1 million meals to community cats through our Cats Are Family, TooTM program. In a time when so many people are contending with financial instability, we supported and expanded critical food resources. No caregiver should have to choose between feeding their cats or themselves.
- We provided our expertise, support, direct care, and more in over 50 cruelty cases across the country to benefit hundreds of cats and kittens. We are expanding our anti-cruelty action to confront cases of cruelty and neglect against cats on all fronts.
- We provided our legislative expertise and testimony in 32 states to support humane, evidence-based approaches to cats.
- Our expert team trained over 480 law enforcement professionals in cruelty investigation and successful prosecution.
- Alley Cat Allies’ expert resources to protect cats were accessed more than 4.2 million times by people from all over the world.
- Our new Community Resource ToolTM was searched over 164,500 times. This tool was created to connect people across the country, Puerto Rico, and Canada with lifesaving local resources for community cats, including low-cost veterinary care and cat food banks.
- Our Rapid Response Team rushed onto the ground in the wake of the Los Angeles wildfires to save cats’ lives. We spent the start of 2025 in the burn zone, rescuing cats and rushing them to emergency veterinary care, as well as providing critical supplies like cat food. Thanks to our swift action, cats like Candy and Toulouse are safe and sound.
- Our disaster response continued when historic flooding swept through Central Texas in July. Our Rapid Response Team worked closely with local organizations to save cats from flood zones, support impacted shelters, and bring cats and kittens like Verano and Wink to lifesaving veterinary care.
- Our $10,000 reward resulted in a swift arrest in the case of a kitten strangled to death in San Antonio. Now, we’re offering our expert support to the prosecution to seek justice for the kitten, including jail time for the perpetrator.
- We’re keeping up the momentum to achieve justice for cats through active rewards for the prosecution and conviction in the case of Smokey the kitten, who was shot in the eye with a blowgun dart, and more.
- We supported cats who were victims of cruelty with lifesaving medical care, including Shadow, who was shot in the eye with a dart, Mouch and 76 more cats who were rescued from horrific conditions in a home, and Bell, who was abandoned outdoors in a cardboard box.
- We achieved justice for Juliet. After Zhean Bai was arrested and prosecuted in Ohio for the deadly torture of Juliet the cat, Alley Cat Allies provided critical support to the prosecution through an expert opinion. Though the defense attempted to avoid a conviction and any jail time, we helped secure both.
- Alley Cat Allies’ one-day Community Cat Food Bank provided holiday meals to more than 250 community cats in Granite Shoals, Texas. At this time of year, that support is more needed than ever.
- We stopped a dangerous leash law and feeding ban against community cats in Creston, Ohio. Because Alley Cat Allies reached out to officials in the village and rallied advocates across Ohio, the cruel measures did not move forward.
- We successfully prevented a community cat feeding ban in Miami-Dade, Florida. Without Alley Cat Allies’ outspoken action with local advocates, caregivers in the county would be facing fines upwards of $100 for simply caring for community cats.
- We launched lifesaving new resources, including our How to Help Sick or Injured Cats Outdoors guide and Kitten Protection Guide. These guides were developed to address and answer the most common questions and concerns we receive from advocates to save cats’ lives.
- Alley Cat Allies’ Feline Frenzy TNR events in Canton, Ohio, reached nearly 400 cats and kittens in just two days of action. Community cats like Cindy were spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and received any other needed care. In addition, each caregiver brought home cases of wet cat food and Alley Cat Allies’ expert educational materials.
- Alley Cat Allies tapped into our vast network of cat advocates—like you—to put the pressure on and stop cruel, lethal measures against cats. Through our Action Alerts, tens of thousands of calls for the humane treatment of cats went out to lawmakers and officials across the United States in 2025.
- We helped pass statewide bans on cruel cat declawing in California, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island! Alley Cat Allies provided expert testimony to support the bills and rallied advocates in the states to raise their voices with us. We achieved this incredible victory together!
- We educated veterinarians across the country and collaborated to provide access to care—including emergency surgery—that saved the lives of cats like Tallulah, Reno, and more.
- Our close work with veterinarians and expertise in the treatment of Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) saved 100% of cats in our care diagnosed with the disease. Without treatment, FIP is virtually always fatal. But thanks to our lifesaving action, cats like Bean and Chifileit are recovered and thriving today.
- We reached a milestone of more than 6000 community cats helped with access to care in just one of our Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) collaborations in Atlantic County, New Jersey. And, our unique community cat food bank in the area provided more than 60,000 meals.
- We kept up our fight to protect the community cats of Puerto Rico from a lethal U.S. National Park Service (NPS) plan to remove and kill them. Our historic lawsuit is still active, and our refusal to back down stopped the NPS from starting its lethal plan over a year ago. The cats are still thriving in their outdoor home on the Paseo del Morro.
- Alley Cat Allies’ Global Cat Day® and National Feral Cat Day®, October 16, went more global than ever in 2025! Advocates from across the globe spread the rallying call that Cats Are CommunityTM. And, our team members took to the ground in key cities in Spain and Ohio to connect with local advocates, provide expertise and guidance, and provide food, spay and neuter, and other care to the community cats thriving in their outdoor homes.
Thank you for standing with us and for the cats. See you in 2026 to save even more lives!
