UPDATE:

After Alley Cat Allies issued a $10,000 reward for information leading to the prosecution and conviction of a man caught on video strangling a kitten in a San Antonio apartment complex, an arrest was made on November 18, 2025.

Ryan Berlanga, 31, turned himself in to the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) following mass pressure from the news media, which included information about our reward. He has been charged with animal cruelty.

We offered our reward not only to uncover the truth and pursue justice, but to send a strong message that cruelty to cats will not be tolerated. And there was an immediate and powerful response, from multiple tips called in to a nationwide outcry on behalf of this kitten whose life was so brutally taken.

We are also offering our expert support to the prosecution in this case, and we’ll keep you updated as we seek a conviction.
