Alley Cat Allies is covering the cost of critical, lifesaving veterinary care for cats impacted by the devastating wave of tornadoes that ripped through Mississippi last week.

We are providing emergency disaster relief funding to Greenville Animal Clinic & Hospital, which is less than an hour away from Rolling Fork, one of the towns hardest hit by the disaster. The clinic has kept its doors open even on days it is typically closed, taking in and treating animals who were injured and displaced. Alley Cat Allies is proud to help provide critical treatment and care for many of these animals.

“The community has come together to help the animals affected by the tornado. We’re so grateful to Alley Cat Allies for helping us with the cost of medical care. We appreciate it so much,” said Edwin Nordan, D.V.M., the owner of the clinic.

Nado, a tiny 4-week-old tuxedo kitten named for the very disaster he survived, was the first to receive care due to our funding. A good Samaritan found Nado buried beneath rubble left by the tornado, with his mother and siblings nowhere in sight. Nado was promptly brought to the clinic, where he was examined and is now receiving ongoing care and bottle feeding.

While Nado is still at a fragile age where constant care will be needed since he has been separated from his mother, he’s a tough little survivor and is doing great! He has even found a “foster mom” in one of the clinic’s resident adoptable cats, 2-year-old Snow.

Nado doing amazing after TLC at the clinic.

Many more cats and kittens like Nado will need emergency care in the coming days and weeks. Recovery from the tragedy will take months, and even years. Many people were killed. Homes and businesses were completely levelled by the tornadoes, and some residents lost everything. Alley Cat Allies will continue to provide the means to save animals’ lives in the aftermath of the disaster, and do our part to bring a sense of normalcy back to the impacted communities.

Our disaster response is only possible through the generosity of our supporters. Your gift today powers this vital work.
