To provide critical support in the case of 91 cats and kittens rescued from an Alabama property, Alley Cat Allies is working with Colony Cats of Birmingham TNR Team for Kitty Kat Haven & Rescue and covering the costs of veterinary care.

In a stroke of luck, most of the cats and kittens are in decent health and don’t need intensive care. Thanks to the quick work of local advocates, all are in foster homes where they can relax and recover. However, most of the cats need spay or neuter surgery, and some have medical issues, including abscesses and skin conditions, that need treatment.

Donate to Support Critical Care for Cats

The first wave of those cats headed to the clinic yesterday, with more to receive care today and throughout the week. We’re ensuring cats like Sweetie, Foxy, King Charles, Sparkle, Sugar, and Biscuit get the help they need right now because of supporters like you!

Emergency Support for Tiny Kittens

This is an emergency, and every single day counts, especially as several of the cats were pregnant or had young kittens.

Stress can impact a mother cat’s ability to produce milk, so some of the moms rescued aren’t able to feed all of their kittens without support. Those kittens are either being bottle-fed or introduced to other mother cats who can take on their care.

Alley Cat Allies is helping them all, from the support needed to help mother cats raise their babies to supplies to care for neonatal kittens by hand.

Supportive Care for a Cat with Dislocated Legs

@alleycatallies

Cricket is the sweetest cat, but as you can see, he’s having some trouble with his front legs! Veterinarians believe Cricket has carpal laxity, a condition affecting his wrists with an excessive range of motion. And since Cricket was recently rescued from an Alabama property along with 90+ cats, he hasn’t been able to get the treatment he needs…until now. Alley Cat Allies is covering the costs of Cricket’s care (and medical care for more of those 90+ cats) because of you! With splinting, patience, and time, we’re hoping Cricket’s legs can be corrected. But he’s certainly not letting his condition keep him down: Cricket would rather be on the move–and jumping into your arms! ? We’ll keep you updated on Cricket’s progress. If you’d like to give to provide more access to care for cats like him, head to alleycat.org/Donate. Every gift saves cats’ lives! #kittensoftiktok #catsoftiktok #catrescue #veterinarycare #alabama

For Cricket, a one-year-old cat who needs more extensive care, we’re footing the bill for veterinary treatment and boarding. Cricket’s front legs are bent in an unusual direction, and veterinarians believe that either his wrists were dislocated and healed incorrectly or he developed a condition called carpal laxity, which impacts the stability of the wrist joints.

We’re determining the right treatment to correct his condition, including attempting to splint his legs. But right now, Cricket isn’t in pain and is doing well at the veterinary clinic, where he is also being treated for a stomach issue. In fact, he doesn’t want to sit still even for a moment. He’s a total sweetheart and would rather jump into his carer’s arms to be loved!

Your Support Makes Our Work Possible

As all of the cats are socialized, this is the first step toward finding them forever homes and the bright futures they deserve! It’s a huge undertaking, and we couldn’t do it without your compassion and generosity.

We’ll share updates as they come. Thank you to the advocates who have moved so swiftly to make this rescue possible, and to all of our supporters who are stepping up for cats when it matters most!
