It’s here! Happy Global Cat Day and National Feral Cat Day!

Today, we hope you’ll join Alley Cat Allies and cat advocates the world over to share a simple but powerful truth:

To make a lifesaving impact, Alley Cat Allies is calling on people around the world to take positive action for cats in their communities.

“On Global Cat Day and National Feral Cat Day, we are sending a strong message that Cats Are Community around the globe, coexist with wildlife, and deserve to thrive wherever they call home,” said Coryn Julien, Program Communications Officer at Alley Cat Allies. “Alley Cat Allies will be on the ground on October 16, providing cats with Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), no-cost cat food, access to care, and other critical support. We are calling on advocates everywhere to join us by helping cats where they live.”

What We’re Doing to Protect Cats on Global Cat Day

Every year, cat advocates, caregivers, veterinarians, shelters, and animal protection organizations around the globe observe Global Cat Day and National Feral Cat Day by taking action to protect cats and advance humane, evidence-based policies for their care.

On October 15 and 16, Alley Cat Allies will be continuing its global work for cats, with special events on the ground stocking a no-cost cat food bank in Richmond, Virginia; providing access to care and cat food for community cats in Prince George’s County, Maryland; holding a TNR clinic in Granite Shoals, Texas; and providing lifesaving medical care for cats in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

About Global Cat Day and National Feral Cat Day

Alley Cat Allies’ Global Cat Day, founded in 2017, and National Feral Cat Day, founded in 2001, are observed annually on October 16 as the biggest days of advocacy and action for cats. Their message is simple but powerful: Cats Are Community™.

Cats Are Community means acknowledging that cats coexist in harmony and balance with wildlife, including birds, in environments across the globe. It also means advocacy and action until all cities, towns, states, and countries have laws and resources that recognize and protect cats as the community members they are.
