Helping A Hemingway Cat Heal
What we knew then: Hemingway came from a house that was never a home to him, and where he lived in fear.
What we know now: Hemingway is safe in our care and, through it all, he’s been the most loving, patient, and trusting cat.
These past weeks, our team has been ensuring Hemingway is in the best physical health by working with our veterinary allies, and that he receives the mental and emotional support he needs with love and quality time with both people and other cats. We would say we’ve seen him come out of his shell since his rescue, but the truth is he’s been a sweetheart all along!
We look forward to finding Hemingway his forever home soon. He’s certainly an eye-catching, handsome young cat—and yes, he’s named for the six toes on his front paws. He’s a polydactyl cat, also known as a Hemingway cat!
Your support is protecting Hemingway and so many more cats and kittens every day. From critical care for cats who need it to strong anti-cruelty action to humane education and so much more, you make it all possible with your gift.
Senior Cat Thor Makes Incredible Recovery
When Thor came to us, he was lethargic, dehydrated, barely eating, and very underweight at just over 4 pounds. Emergency bloodwork revealed that ALL his values were abnormal. As Thor is an older gentleman at around 15 years old, we knew we had to act quickly but carefully to keep him stable through the treatment he urgently needed.
We identified the culprit with an ultrasound: gallbladder stones. And though Thor was exhausted both physically and mentally, we also discovered just how much of a fighter he truly is. His name suits him perfectly!
Thor responded beautifully to therapy and regained his appetite enough to put on significant weight. Now that he’s doing so much better, we were able to discharge him from the hospital to a comfortable space where he can continue to heal. Soon, we’ll be bringing him back home to reunite with his family!
We couldn’t provide the access to care needed to save emergency cases like Thor without you!
A Whole New World Has Opened Up for Neo
To say that we and our veterinary allies do incredible work together is an understatement. Take a look at the difference in Neo, who came into our care with a massive wound on his face. In just a few weeks of surgery recovery and expert care, he’s healed dramatically!
Even better: through our Veterinarian Training ProgramTM, we’re educating veterinarians on the techniques we’ve honed over decades of work with veterinary professionals. From expanding Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) to lifesaving treatment and surgeries, as we did for Neo, we’re ensuring even more cats receive top-notch care.
And of course, we can do it all thanks to our supporters like you! We hope you’ll join us in wishing the best for Neo as he completes his healing journey.
