All veterinarians who accept community cats in your practice, here’s to you: Happy World Veterinary Day!

Without the dedication of veterinary professionals who serve all cats, whether they make their homes indoors or outdoors, our movement to build a world where every cat’s life is valued and protected simply wouldn’t be possible.

At their very core, veterinarians are meant to be healers. And not just healers of the animals they treat, but of society at large through advancing inherent respect for all beings—whether they stand on two legs or four. We count ourselves lucky to work with and support some of the best healers around!

When Alley Cat Allies launched Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) for community cats into the mainstream in the United States, the buy-in of the veterinary community was critical. And so many veterinarians stepped up, learning the tricks of the trade for treating community cats. They put the ‘N’ in TNR, and so much more! They took their oath seriously—do no harm—and acted with us to end the killing of cats in shelters.

And though there is still so much more work to do to create humane communities, we have incredible veterinarians joining us to make it happen. Alley Cat Allies is committed to supporting all community cat-friendly veterinarians. We even launched our Veterinarian Training Program to help hone the skills of experienced and upcoming veterinarians alike!

With Gratitude to Veterinarians, from Alley Cat Allies

On World Veterinary Day, we’re saying it loud and clear:

To all veterinary professionals who accept community cats in your practice and offer TNR services: Thank you!

To all veterinary professionals who make your services affordable through low-cost cat spay and neuter, vaccination, and wellness clinics: An even bigger thank you!

To all veterinary professionals who volunteer their time and expertise to help community cats and train students in the practice of TNR: Our gratitude is beyond words.

Alley Cat Allies wants to recognize the service you provide, and ensure your community knows the resource they have in you. If you accept community cats at your veterinary practice, make sure you’re listed on our Community Resource ToolTM!
