BETHESDA, Md. – Alley Cat Allies has earned the 2023 Platinum Seal of Transparency from Candid (formerly Guidestar). The platinum seal is the highest level of recognition from Candid, indicating that Alley Cat Allies is a leader in transparency and in the top one percent of IRS-registered nonprofits with respect to transparency, while reflecting that Alley Cat Allies has shared clear and important information with the public about its goals, strategies, capabilities, achievements and progress indicators.

“The platinum seal reflects Alley Cat Allies’ guiding principle of transparency in our lifesaving work for cats. We are committed to providing our supporters and donors with essential, clear, and illuminating information on the impact their compassion and generosity has on cats’ lives,” said Coryn Julien, communications director for Alley Cat Allies.

This achievement indicates that Alley Cat Allies is an organization donors and advocates can trust. Every donation to Alley Cat Allies will be utilized to its fullest potential to save cats’ lives and transform communities to protect them. Alley Cat Allies achievements include:

  • Introducing community programs that teach advocates the best practices to protect cats and kittens and exposing outdated practices of shelters that kill cats, meaning more cruel policies will be replaced with humane measures that save lives.
  • Working on the front lines fighting against cruelty to cats, whether perpetrated by individuals or by government institutions. Alley Cat Allies’ goal is to challenge the underlying beliefs that enable cruelty in order to end the violence at its source.
  • Commonsense, evidence-based policies that protect the wellbeing of cats, including Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), Shelter-Neuter-Return (SNR), microchipping, and banning cat declawing.
  • Response to disasters — from hurricanes to wildfires — to protect cats, share Alley Cat Allies’ expertise with affected communities, and advocate for increased government and community preparedness to help ensure animals’ safety before disaster strikes.

Alley Cat Allies is proud to continue being a leader in the cat protection movement.
