Alley Cat Allies is fighting for cats like Shadow in the wake of unimaginable cruelty.
Our team provides expert support to prosecutors in animal cruelty cases across the country, calling for abusers to be penalized to the fullest extent of the law. In so doing, we are setting a precedent that will shape how these cases are prosecuted into the future.
Our goal is to ensure cats don’t slip through the cracks of the justice system. We won’t stop until all acts of animal cruelty are regarded and treated as the serious crimes they are—ones that necessitate serious consequences. Not only do cats inherently deserve to be protected, but studies also show that violence against animals is closely linked with violence against people. To appropriately address animal cruelty crimes is to protect us all.
This month, we are offering prosecution support in multiple active cruelty cases, including…
Rowlett, Texas
When Shadow was discovered outdoors with a dart shot through his face near Bayside Apartments in Rowlett in mid-August, Alley Cat Allies immediately provided our expertise in responding to the case.
We have since helped cover the costs of Shadow’s medical care (he’s continuing to heal in a foster home), and we are offering a reward of $10,000 for the conviction of the person who shot him.
With a suspect—Jacob Cushingham—identified and charged with animal cruelty in Shadow’s case, we are continuing to offer our support to the prosecution to ensure justice is served.
Lewis County, Washington
Alley Cat Allies is offering our support in the prosecution of Juan Lopez Abrego. Lopez Abrego is accused of causing multiple severe injuries to a kitten—injuries she did not survive.
Macon County, Illinois
We are also extending an offer of our expertise and support to the prosecutors of the case of a cat brutally killed in Macon County. Delbert W. McGee is accused of holding the cat down and, in an act of highly disturbing cruelty, stomping on the cat. The resulting injuries were fatal.
Justice in the Wake of Animal Cruelty
Alley Cat Allies fights against animal cruelty on several levels, in court, through organizing protests, and by providing critical medical care to victims. And, we win—including changing the way cases of cruelty to cats are prosecuted into the future.
Your compassion makes it all possible. By giving to Alley Cat Allies today, we can provide more prosecution support and further action to achieve justice for cats.
