Alley Cat Allies is reaching out to and connecting with advocates, organizations, veterinarians, and members of our Feral Friends Network around the flood-impacted area of Texas to determine the best way we can help affected cats and kittens.
Our Rapid Response Team stands ready to provide emergency assistance including our expertise, veterinary care, cat food and supplies, and more, to save the lives of any displaced cats and kittens. We have our supporters like you to thank for our ability to respond swiftly when disaster strikes.
Brought on by constant rain battering central Texas, flash flooding—particularly in Kerr County—has caused mass devastation. More than 100 lives have been confirmed lost, and the impact on animals will only become clearer in the coming days.
Though the situation is complicated and in flux, community cats are incredible survivors who have well-honed instincts in emergency situations. From our decades of experience, we know cats will continue to emerge days, or even weeks, after a disaster.
That is when it’s most important to immediately provide food and water, and observe the community cats in a colony to see if all are present—and if any cats have been displaced and need care. Our Rapid Response Team is prepared to provide that support.
