Alley Cat Allies has entered a collaborative disaster relief effort to rush critical direct care to cats and kittens affected by the deadly flooding in Central Texas.

As part of the collaboration, we have issued an emergency grant to Texas organization Operation Kindness to cover the costs of rescue support, medical care, shelter, food, supplies, and more for cats who were evacuated from flood-impact zones. A team—which includes veterinary technicians—has been deployed and is on the ground taking action in Williamson County.

Together, we’re helping cats like Stripes, who was moved from a shelter in an area endangered by the flooding to the safety of another facility. And, we are strategizing how to have a greater impact in the long recovery period ahead.

The full scope of the damage caused by the severe flash flooding over Independence Day weekend is yet to be known. Search, rescue, and recovery are kicking into high gear, and Alley Cat Allies is proud to provide our steadfast support to save cats’ lives.

A Look at What Is Ahead

As we work to deliver emergency assistance, we will stay connected with cat advocates on the ground to identify urgent needs and determine how to help even more affected cats and kittens moving forward. Cats, resilient survivors that they are, will continue to emerge from the devastation in the coming days and weeks. Some may be displaced and in need of care, including Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), food, and other essential support.
