Alley Cat Allies fights to end cruelty to cats in all forms and takes strong action to achieve justice.
We provide expert support to the prosecution of cruelty cases, issue rewards to help convict cruelty perpetrators, support cats who are victims of cruelty with critical veterinary care, and educate communities on how to address, report, and prosecute acts of cruelty to cats.
Here are just a few of the cruelty cases we’re taking on this season:
A Second Chance for Sweet Bell After Abandonment
Abandoning a cat IS cruelty. Recently, Alley Cat Allies covered the costs of medical treatment for Bell, a sweet two-year-old tortoiseshell cat who was dumped in a cardboard box outside by her former owner.
We helped ensure Bell received the care she needed to recover from her ordeal and start again. Furthermore, charges are being pursued against the person who abandoned her. We will remain involved in the case.
Thank you to all who have wished Bell well these past days. We’re glad to announce that she’s been adopted and is settling in well in her new home!
As we stand up for cats and kittens like Bell, we’re grateful to have our dedicated supporters with us. We don’t back down when cats face cruelty and neglect, and you are the reason we can seek, and achieve, justice.
Providing Critical Care and Support to Cat Victims of Neglect
Alley Cat Allies is taking action to protect and seek justice for 22 cats and kittens who were the victims of cruelty and neglect in Mahoning County, Ohio.
Elmo and Callie were among the cats rescued from inhumane conditions in a filthy home and treated for flea infestation, dermatitis, infection, and open sores. Alley Cat Allies is helping to cover the costs of veterinary care for all 22 cats until they are placed in adoptive homes.
We are also supporting the investigation of this case and will provide expert prosecution support once charges are filed.
Thank you for standing strong with us against animal cruelty, on behalf of cats like Elmo and Callie who urgently need our voice. We will keep you updated as the case moves forward.
Taking a Stand Against Cruel Cat Breeding
Alley Cat Allies is calling for the strongest possible penalty in the case of a cat breeder who is alleged to have severely neglected 77 cats, confining them in horrific conditions. The suspect, Trixxe McCowin, fled from animal cruelty charges related to the 2022 incident but has now been caught.
Our team was present for the jury trial of McCowin on November 12. After the pretrial, the Court decided the trial will be continued to a later date. For now, McCowin is in custody and is in jail.
According to veterinarians, all of the rescued cats were suffering from illness and/or infection, and many, like Mouch, were so severely matted that they were nearly unrecognizable. They had to be shaved completely.
Since then, we’re glad to say Mouch and other cats who were removed from the property have been cared for and are now safe in adoptive homes. But for their sake, we are seeking justice. We will keep you updated.
We’ll keep you updated on the next steps as we seek justice for all of the cats who were victims of horrifying and cruel neglect.
Helping Tallulah Heal in the Wake of Abandonment
When 12-year-old Tallulah was discovered abandoned, emaciated, and with a severely injured leg, Alley Cat Allies stepped in to help cover the costs of her lifesaving veterinary care.
Though her leg ultimately couldn’t be saved, Tallulah is healing and adjusting quickly to life on three. What’s more, she’s still sweet as can be, and we know she has so many happy days ahead of her. It’s all thanks to our supporters like you!
We’ll keep you updated on how Tallulah is healing. She’s in foster care right now, and we can’t wait for the day she finds a forever home!
We Need You with Us in the Fight Against Cruelty
