A Chance Detour Saved a Kitten’s Life
Alley Cat Allies never takes a break from saving cats’ lives! Recently, one of our team members didn’t hesitate to cancel her dinner plans when she spotted a small black cat lying, unmoving, on the side of the road.
Worried at first that he was injured, she crouched nearby and shook a bag of cat treats. Only then did the cat lift his head weakly and stand on shaky legs. It was clear right away that he was emaciated, covered in fleas, and he needed help immediately.
Wasting no time, she rushed the cat to emergency veterinary care. After an exam and bloodwork, we discovered the cat was just a kitten—less than a year old! And, that he was FIV positive.
We at Alley Cat Allies know that cats with FIV can live long, happy lives, and there was no way we would ever give up on this little guy. We’ve named him Bean! And now, a few good meals and a flea bath later, and he’s doing very well! He’s eating like a champ and is beyond sweet; he never stops purring and making muffins.
We believe Bean was severely neglected by his previous owners and, after showing signs of health issues, was dumped on the road. We’re going to do all we can to make sure he has many, many happy years ahead of him. Bean hasn’t let his situation dampen his sweet spirit, and we are just as determined to see him thrive.
To you, our supporters: THANK YOU. You are the reason we can save Bean, and cats like him, every day through widespread humane care, outreach, and education. We hope you’ll cheer Bean on!
Chifileit is Well on the Mend
We’re celebrating the beginning of June with a happy update on Chifileit! Thank you for helping us save her life, and for being the reason we can improve access to care for cats across the nation and beyond.
Sprout is Growing Fast
Just look at how big (and clean!) Sprout has gotten since he was first rescued!
Sprout and his sister, Daffodil, were found abandoned at a young age…and in need of emergency veterinary care. Alley Cat Allies, in collaboration with veterinarian allies, provided support at that most critical moment. It’s been an honor to watch them—and many more cats and kittens like them—find healing and hope through our humane care and outreach work!
Now, Sprout is almost ready for the next step in his journey: adoption! If you’ve been following his and Daffodil’s story from the beginning, thank you for the well wishes. And, of course, thank you to all of our supporters for making our lifesaving work possible!
Bee Before and After
What a difference a few weeks can make in a kitten’s life! Thank you for following the journey of Bee and her siblings from day one to today, and for your incredible support every step of the way.
Alley Cat Allies is expanding access to care for cats in collaboration with veterinary allies—and saving kittens like Bee as a result. We couldn’t do it without you!
