Julia is the Senior Programs Associate at Alley Cat Allies. As a member of the Community Programs and Support team, she develops strategies to support local and state campaigns, collaborates with advocates, nonprofit organizations, and government officials to create humane policies and procedures, and researches opportunities to promote and protect cat-friendly communities across the country.
After earning a B.A. in Journalism from Michigan State University, Julia worked in the Metro Detroit advertising industry managing broadcast, print, and digital campaigns for a wide range of clients. To use her communications and project management skills to help animals, she volunteered with the Michigan Humane Society as an adoption counselor for an offsite cat adoption program and lobbied for state legislation with The Humane Society of the United States.
She continued her path towards a career in animal advocacy by earning a M.S. in Animals and Public Policy from the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University. During this time, Julia lobbied for state and federal legislation as a HSUS District Leader Volunteer in Massachusetts and as an ASPCA Government Relations Intern in Washington, DC.
Today, Julia lives with her cat, Prince, who she adopted 12 years ago and has supported her animal advocacy journey every step of the way.
