Staff Leader Bios

 

Becky Robinson, Alley Cat Allies’ President, has worked in the animal protection field for 23 years. She co-founded ACA in 1990 and has consulted with animal control agencies, animal organizations, humane societies, spay/neuter clinics, veterinarians, local governments, and individuals worldwide. Ms. Robinson has given presentations nationally and internationally. She established two spay/neuter clinics for stray and feral cats in the Washington, DC area, in 1994 and 1998.

Ms. Robinson received her Master in Public Administration from the University of Missouri, Kansas City, in 1987, and B.A in Social Work from Bethany College in 1979.  She has been trained and certified by the National Animal Control Association (NACA). Ms. Robinson comes from a long tradition of animal protection, as her family formed the first humane society in her hometown of McPherson, Kansas, in 1975.

Ms. Robinson serves on the board of the Virginia Federation of Humane Societies and as an Advisor to Animal Balance.

She is also a Cat Expert for CatChannel.com, Cat Fancy's Online Community.

Donna Wilcox is Executive Director and Chair of the Board of Directors of Alley Cat Allies. Since April 1991, she has been one of three people directing the course of the organization. In January 1996, ACA appointed Ms. Wilcox to its board of directors. She joined the staff of ACA full-time in October 1999. Ms. Wilcox started Alley Cat Allies’ membership database and its Feral Friends Network, and managed them for the first eight years.

Ms. Wilcox has experience training others in Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) and speaks publicly on the topic of feral cat management. She has appeared on television, on the radio, and in print to educate the public about the benefits of nonlethal management of feral cats. Prior to joining Alley Cat Allies, Ms. Wilcox managed the Washington, DC, office of a large nonprofit environmental organization for more than 21 years. She has a B.S. in biology.

Wendy Anderson is the Legal Director of Alley Cat Allies. Previously, she was the Managing Attorney of the Litigation Office of the Animal Legal Defense Fund. Before that she served as Senior Counsel and Ethics Officer of the American Red Cross, national headquarters. Ms. Anderson spent her early career in private practice at Howrey & Simon, where she litigated multi-million dollar insurance coverage lawsuits concerning toxic torts and Superfund cleanups. She received a Juris Doctorate from the National Law Center, George Washington University, in 1988, and a Bachelor of Arts from Northwestern University in 1985.

Karyen Chu, PhD

Karyen Chu is an economist at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation where she performs econometric modeling in support of the FDIC’s fair lending and compliance activities and conducts research on consumer finance issues.  Previously, Dr. Chu was a health policy researcher at Mathematica Policy Research, where she worked extensively with many large national health surveys.  Dr. Chu received a Doctor of Philosophy in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley.  She also holds a Master of Public Policy from the University of California, Berkeley and a Bachelor of Arts from Occidental College.
