December Edition

Thanks to the support of loyal donors like you, we've been very busy this month protecting cats around the country. Here are just a few of our current projects and successes:

Adoptable Cats: Give Mugsy a Home this Holiday
Adoptable Cat - Mugsy

Mugsy is the distinguished gentleman of our adoptable cats. At a stately 10 years old, he is always friendly to other pets and human admirers of any age, who can never resist his big fluffy Maine Coon coat. Although he’s a quiet kind of guy, Mugsy loves nothing better than to curl up beside you for a pet. There’s no place like home for the holidays – can you give one to Mugsy?

Alley Cat Allies Fires Back at the University of Nebraska
Nebraska Cat

The University of Nebraska published a report early this month which recommended shooting feral cats as a means of population control. This barbaric and utterly disturbing excuse for “science” blatantly ignores the real scientific research that proves TNR works and the anti-cruelty legislation that protects cats in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Alley Cat Allies responded both publicly and directly to the University to let the authors and publishers of this ignorant document know how dangerously wrong they are.

Keeping TNR Simple for Brevard County's Caregivers
Brevard Cat

In 1999, one of Alley Cat Allies’ biggest victories was getting an ordinance passed to allow and fund TNR in Brevard County, Florida. After learning recently that county commissioners drafted new registration restrictions that will complicate and lessen the effectiveness of the existing program in Brevard County, we contacted them directly and mobilized our local supporters to call for a roll back of the new requirements.

Arlington County Animal Control Embraces TNR
Arlington County TNR

Alley Cat Allies has been educating and supporting feral cat caregivers in Arlington County, Virginia, for years through our Every Kitty – Every City Program. Thanks to a change in leadership at the local animal control, the county has recently come on board with our Trap-Neuter-Return efforts! We’re using our expertise to help them set up a new countywide TNR program that teaches community members about trapping and offers free feral cat spay/neuter services to residents.
