FERAL CAT TASK FORCE, COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS TO VISIT MEADOWS OF CHANTILLY Alley Cat Allies to lead volunteers in building shelters, feeding stations for Meadows’ cats
Alley Cat Allies, the national advocate for stray and feral cats, will visit the Meadows of Chantilly in Fairfax County, Va., on Saturday, July 26 to continue efforts for the humane management of the property’s outdoor cats.
Bethesda-based Alley Cat Allies will lead residents and volunteers, including Manassas-based Girl Scout troop 4413, to build feeding stations for the properties’ outdoor cats, and will continue to help residents obtain no-cost spay and neuter services and install devices proven to humanely deter outdoor cats. The volunteers will be joined by Alley Cat Allies’ official mascot, Frank the Feral, and a spokesperson from Alley Cat Allies will be available for interviews.
Earlier this year, Alley Cat Allies announced an agreement with Equity LifeStyle Properties, owner of the Meadows, to provide no-cost spay and neuter services as well as vaccinations for all unaltered cats on the property. Alley Cat Allies has also helped residents who care for the cats to establish regular feeding schedules, and continues to distribute and help install humane deterrents on any areas of the property where cats are not wanted. Alley Cat Allies is also assisting residents with finding foster or permanent homes for more than 15 adoptable kittens and cats who live at the Meadows, and is providing ongoing education to residents on how outdoor cats and people can peacefully co-exist.
