CATS AND KITTENS UP FOR ADOPTION AT TOMS RIVER ADOPTION FAIR, SATURDAY, AUGUST 1 Prizes, Trap-Neuter-Return demos and more, part of Alley Cat Allies’ Atlantic City
BETHESDA — Alley Cat Allies, the national advocate for stray and feral cats, announced an adoption and outreach fair to be held August 1 at PETCO, 1331 Hooper Avenue, Toms River, NJ. Visitors can meet cats and kittens up for adoption and talk to counselors about bringing home a new pet.
The adoption fair is part of Alley Cat Allies’ longstanding Boardwalk Cats program. As part of the Trap-Neuter-Return program officially sanctioned by the city and carried out by Alley Cat Allies and volunteers, feral cats who live at the boardwalk are humanely trapped, neutered, and vaccinated before being returned to their outdoor homes, where they receive regular food and water. Adoptable cats and young kittens are placed into foster programs until they can be adopted into permanent homes.
In addition to the adoption fair, visitors interested in feral cat care can view humane-trapping demonstrations and pick up materials about Trap-Neuter-Return. Early birds can enter a raffle to win prizes.
WHAT: Alley Cat Allies Adoption and Outreach Fair WHERE: PETCO, 1331 Hooper Avenue, Toms River, NJ. WHEN: Saturday, August 1, 2009 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
