Alley Cat Allies has responded to a request for assistance by the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals and other local organizations to help save the lives of feral cats living on the grounds of J.F.K. Airport. The organization has reached out to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and has requested a moratorium on all trapping until a humane solution for the feral cat colonies can be discussed.

An overwhelming majority of Americans believe that leaving a stray cat outside to live out his life is more humane than having the cat caught and killed by animal control, according to a survey conducted by Harris for Alley Cat Allies, the national nonprofit organization dedicated solely to issues affecting stray and feral cats.

Alley Cat Allies, in partnership with Sedgewick-based Friends of Felines, will hold a seminar on "Helping Outdoor Cats" in Witchita, Kansas on October 20, 2007.  The seminar will provide information to residents, property managers, local government officials and others on how to help stray and feral cats who have made their homes in neighborhoods, behind businesses, and in surrounding areas of town.

Feral and stray cats were the stars of the show this past Sunday afternoon at the McPherson Opera House. The national nonprofit organization Alley Cat Allies, along with Sedgwick-based Friends of Felines, held a workshop on September 23 for residents and animal control policymakers to talk about how to reduce the number of outdoor cats in the community.

Thousands of concerned citizens and volunteers across the United States will mark National Feral Cat Day 2007 (October 16) with a series of events throughout the month, including community rallies, shelter-building projects and leafleting campaigns seeking to raise awareness and end the killing of cats by animal control agencies and shelters, Alley Cat Allies announced.

August 10, 2007 Baltimore Mayor Dixon to Propose Cat-Friendly Legislation to City Council National and Local Animal Welfare Organizations Join Together to Protect City's Outdoor Cats
Innovative legislation intended to change the way feral cats are handled through the animal control system will be proposed to the City Council by Mayor Sheila Dixon on Monday, August 13, 2007.  This legislation is strongly backed by local and national humane organizations including the Maryland SPCA, Maryland Feline Society, Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter, and teh national organization Alley Cat Allies.
