Rehabilitation of Undersocialized & Feral Kittens Workshop - Chicago, IL
For Staff & Volunteers of Animal Shelters, Rescue, & TNR Organizations

Sat, 5 Jan, 2013 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Hosted by The Anti-Cruelty Society & The Tree House Humane Society
Sponsored by Petco Foundation
Instructors: Mike Phillips and Valerie Sicignano, the NYC Feral Cat Initiative, a program of the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals

  • Have you taken in kittens that do not get adopted or are returned by adopters because they are excessively shy?
  • Have you taken in kittens, only later to discover that they are hissing, spitting, scratching, or biting?
  • Have you turned away young kittens from your best volunteers or groups because they were too wild to pass a behavioral evaluation exam and be admitted into the shelter for adoption placement?
  • Have you euthanized feral kittens because they could not go up for adoption and could not go back to their outdoor location due to the dangerous conditions there?
  • Would community relations be improved if you could keep the colony size small by removing the young feral kittens from a colony as you TNR it?

If you answered "yes" to any of the above, you, your staff, and volunteers need to attend this workshop!

We will provide you with the training and information to guide your staff and volunteers to fully tame those borderline kittens that otherwise might never find an adoption placement. Using actual film footage of successful techniques, combined with insights into the biological development of kittens, we will provide attendees with an opportunity to learn how to tame and socialize kittens quickly and efficiently so that they can be adopted into indoor homes. Printed hand-outs will be provided. We look forward to meeting you there!

Continental breakfast will be provided! Please do not bring animals to the workshop (with the exception of service animals)

RSVP: Please send your name, organization, and email address for each person attending (so we can have materials ready for you) to: or call (212) 330-0033, ext.5.
