Setting the Record Straight

In these fact sheets and articles, Alley Cat Allies exposes the truth behind flawed reports and publications used to threaten cats’ lives.

  • The Wisconsin Study: Bad Science Costs Cats’ Lives – While the numbers from this unpublished research proposal have been disavowed by one of its own authors, opponents of Trap-Neuter-Return threaten cats’ lives by using this flawed science to wrongly blame cats for the declining wildlife populations.
  • Firing Back at The University of Nebraska “Feral Cats and Their Management” Report - This 2010 report recommended shooting feral cats as a means of population control. This barbaric and utterly disturbing excuse for “science” blatantly ignores the real scientific research that proves TNR works and the anti-cruelty legislation that protects cats in all 50 states and DC.
  • Breaking Down the Bogus Smithsonian Catbird Study – This 2011 irresponsible and biased study on bird deaths from the Smithsonian Institution cannot be extrapolated to represent the complex cat-bird dynamic nationwide. This data has been manipulated to malign cats.
